The University of Connecticut School of Civil and Environmental Engineering proudly celebrates alumni Dr. Dominic Kruszewski, P.E., and Dr. Kevin McMullen, recipients of the 2026 GOLD Rising Star Award from the UConn College of Engineering.
The GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) Rising Star Award recognizes recent UConn engineering alumni who have demonstrated notable professional achievements and made meaningful contributions to their fields while building successful careers in the years following graduation.
McMullen serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he teaches courses in structural mechanics and structural design. His research focuses on structural engineering, including efforts to improve the blast resistance of structures through innovative design solutions developed alongside cadets.
A two-time UConn graduate, McMullen earned both his bachelor's degree and doctorate in civil engineering from the University of Connecticut. Prior to joining West Point, his research focused on evaluating and implementing innovative materials and technologies to develop more sustainable and cost-effective solutions for infrastructure challenges.
Kruszewski serves as a Senior Bridge Engineer at Parsons Corporation and is also an Adjunct Professor at the New York City College of Technology (CUNY). Through his professional and academic roles, he contributes to the advancement of transportation infrastructure while helping educate the next generation of engineers.
Together, McMullen and Kruszewski represent the excellence, innovation, and leadership fostered within the UConn School of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The School congratulates Dominic and Kevin on this well-deserved honor and thanks them for serving as outstanding representatives of the UConn engineering community.
