About the Course: This new course introduces the fundamentals of concrete technology, including cement chemistry, admixtures, fresh and hardened properties of concrete, durability, and sustainability. Students will explore innovations in concrete materials and design, with opportunities to connect theory to practice through case studies and applications in industry.
CE/ENVE 5090 Seminar Series: Quantum Technologies in Engineering

About the Course: Open to all engineering students — no quantum background needed. This introductory seminar gives students the opportunity to explore the rapidly developing field of quantum engineering. The course emphasizes accessibility and provides a foundation for understanding how quantum principles intersect with engineering practice and future technology development.
CE 5090-002 Principles of Submarine Design

Enrollment: Restricted to graduate and undergraduate students affiliated with NIUVT. Undergraduates must be rising juniors or seniors and obtain permission to register.
About the Course: This course provides an understanding of the basic principles of submarine design in a modern multi-platform system. Students will learn about operational requirements for submarines, system architecture, and enabling technologies. Offered in collaboration with the University of Adelaide, Australia, the course is part of the broader mission and vision of AUKUS.
Course Requirements:
- Quizzes assessing foundational submarine design principles
- Written reports introducing a submarine class and analyzing a real-world submarine accident
- Project and presentation developing a concept of operations for a new submarine
- Open-book final exam evaluating overall understanding and application
