Research Focus

  • Fate, transport, and transformation of PFAS, microplastics, and other emerging contaminants in aquatic and terrestrial systems
  • Molecular modeling of contaminant–polymer and contaminant–biomolecule interactions
  • Development of soil-on-chip platforms for studying microbial–contaminant interactions and biodegradation dynamics, and development of advanced treatment technologies (e.g., catalytic filters, biofiltration using bivalves, microalgae-based remediation) for PFAS and microplastics removal
  • Cellular uptake, bioaccumulation, and toxicological pathways of emerging contaminants at the organismal and tissue level
  • Exposure modeling of contaminants across environmental and biological compartments, integrating experimental and computational approaches
