New School of Civil and Environmental Engineering Launched

Effective August 23, 2024, the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering has been renamed as the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Marked by growth from 150 to 390 undergraduates since 2003, significant rises in research expenditures ($5.3M to $12M) and graduate offerings, the SoCEE aspires to meet an increasing workforce demand highlighted by a projected job increase due to the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

ASEE Honors Study on Neurodivergent Students with Stephen J. Ressler Best Paper Award

The American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) has honored the paper "Neurodivergent Student Characteristics and Engineering Course Outcomes" with the 2024 Stephen J. Ressler Best Paper Award.

Authored by Dr. Manish Roy, Dr. Christa L. Taylor, and Dr. Marisa Chrysochoou, this award from the Civil Engineering Division recognizes the paper’s significant advancements in understanding and enhancing the educational experiences of neurodivergent students in engineering. The accolade underscores the paper’s role in promoting inclusivity and diversity in engineering education. The award will be presented during next year's ASEE national conference in Montreal.
